Need support as a father?
In the days before the industrial revolution, it was the men who raised the boys. The entire community of men—brothers, uncles, grandfathers, friends, and neighbors—all worked together to teach the boys, discipline the boys, and initiate the boys into manhood.
Times have changed. We’re now socialized to believe that, as fathers, we’re supposed to do it alone, by ourselves. That’s just not the case. And it’s certainly not what our sons and daughters need.
We still need the support of other men to raise our boys…and our girls. There’s no shame in needing help. In fact, it’s a blessing to be of service to others. And when we ask another man—perhaps a more experienced father—for some advice, we’re taking care of our own kids.
Don’t let your ego (not wanting to appear weak or like a failure) to get in the way of your commitment (doing whatever is necessary to take care of your children.)
Countless men have received the wisdom from other fathers in our BetterMen community. You, too, can have that on-going support to be the best father you can be. All you have to do is ask.
