They help me show up as the man I want to be and guide me through life’s peaks and valleys. Every man should know these ideas and use these tools, period.
Mens Life Coach
My name is Wayne M. Levine. In 1993, I participated in my first men’s weekend retreat and joined my first men’s group. Life changing experiences! Since then, I’ve been in several groups and led many more as a mens life coach. I’ve facilitated men’s retreats and gatherings throughout the U.S., and even a couple around the world.
At one point, I was leading five groups a week out of my office in Southern California, along with my individual and couples coaching practice. I was a younger man then!
Times and circumstances have changed me, how I run my groups, and how many more options there are now for men looking for support.
When I started to run my own groups, there was no such thing as a mens group coach, and it was nearly impossible to find a men’s group online or in most communities. Thankfully, today there are many options. It may not always be easy to find just the right coach or group, but google will at least get you started on your search.
Covid changed my process as a mens coach. I took my groups to Zoom, and all of my coaching to phone. And now, instead of five groups, I run two weekly men’s groups. I’ve always loved leading men’s groups because I’ve always appreciated the power, wisdom and camaraderie that can be found in these confidential circles.
As a mens life coach, I cherish my groups and the men in them. All of the men have been in our groups for years. Some have been with me for over 15 years. It’s become a part of their lives, just as it has for me. Each group has about 10 men. Occasionally, it’s time for a man to leave the group, and we have a rare opening.
You can see why I would be extremely careful when bringing a new man into group. It takes a lot of energy on the part of the men when a new man arrives. If that new man isn’t committed to a long-term commitment to be in group, it just drains our energy. We’ve been through that way too many times over the years. Only a man who is committed to this work, and committed to his own changes, can be a candidate. And the way we find this out, is by first establishing an individual coaching relationship.
So, if what brought you here is your desire to meet a mens group coach, great. But first, let’s begin working together. In time, as you learn and change, our trust will grow and we’ll both know what the best next step for you will be.
