He doesn’t sit back on a couch and lob questions in some kind of one-sided way. Instead, you can have a real conversation with him, as I have for almost two years now in dealing with issues in my life. No doubt, Wayne listens well and knows his stuff, but he a...
Life Coach for Men
I’m Wayne M. Levine, men’s life coach, author and founder of BetterMen Coaching. Let me describe the man who, experience has shown, is best suited for my coaching style.
You’re probably 40s to 60s. Dad, married or maybe married a couple of times, or dealing with the stages of divorce. You’ve been successful with career or business but not so much with relationships. You’re in transition and feeling a little untethered, lost or lonely. You have women friends but not close, trusting relationships with men where you feel free to tell the truth without judgment.
You’ve already done some work trying to figure out what makes you tick. You’ve either done some therapy, reading, meditation, retreats, grief work, plant medicine, deep introspection, writing, or some combination of the above. And, you are absolutely ready and committed to making important changes in you and your relationships. Those relationships might include your significant other, kids, parents, yourself, ego, money and the world around you.
In short, we wouldn’t be starting from scratch. That just wouldn’t be a good use of my experience, or of your time and money.
Or, you’ve simply come to a moment in your life when the discomfort has grown so unacceptable that you’re absolutely committed to doing whatever it takes to make that important change or changes necessary to be the man you want to be, to live the life you’ve been yearning to live.
There are a few exceptional younger men who can use the guidance of a “father” to help them through some tough times. Some of these men would also benefit from this work. The younger generations are much more in tune with their feelings and intuition. I’ve had some very fulfilling experiences working with these guys.
When I started my practice, there was no such thing as a “life coach for men.” Which is to say, I’ve been at this for a long time. In the almost 30 years I’ve been at this game, I’ve gathered a great deal of wisdom helping hundreds of men: wisdom that you can’t get from books, or seminars or certification programs–real life, mine and the men I’ve worked with in individual coaching, men’s groups and retreats.
If you meet the criteria, and/or have a gut feeling that we ought to work together, then perhaps you’re on the right track. On the other hand, if after reviewing this site you’ve narrowed your search down to five coaches and three coaching programs, well then, I encourage you to move on. If you’re not feeling it, I’m definitely not for you.
You see, my work is driven, primarily, by my intuition. And strengthening your trust in your own intuition is part of the work we would be doing together. It’s a natural outgrowth of my style of coaching. So, trust your intuition right now. If it feels right, and you’re ready to get to work, meaning, you’re ready to push through your fear, doubt, self-loathing, shame or anxiety, then schedule a time to meet with me.
A note about procrastination: you’ve probably been wrestling with asking for help for quite a long time. The pain you’ve experienced is nothing new. At this moment, you’ve never been closer to actually reaching out and getting what you need. A lot of men have ultimately contacted me 10 years after reading my book, two years after carrying my card in their wallet, or way too long after knowing that they were not happy guys. Don’t be one of those men. They lost a lot of years kicking the can down the road. Haven’t you waited long enough?
