Go to Gratitude

November 19, 2023

We all get impatient. A toddler who is at the end of their rope brings us to the end of our rope. A rental car that’s not ready for us for pickup and we have to wait an extra hour. Somebody on the other end of the phone who is not understanding the first, second or third time what we’re trying to achieve and the bill we’re trying to fix.

All these things can really push us to a place where we’re just not who we want to be. And the question is, how can you get back to that place of being patient and compassionate, kind, centered and grounded, so that you can be the man you want to be.

The fastest route is to go to gratitude. Think of the things you’re grateful for, how you have the resources that allow you to have a rental car, how you have brought this child into your life who’s such a teacher for you. So many riches, so many things to be grateful for. And the moment we do that, our energy can shift, we can slow down our breathing, and we can come back to being that kind, compassionate person that we really want to be.

So next time you’re feeling impatient, what are you going to do? Go to gratitude.
