I live in this beautiful forested area. You might think this is my natural habitat. It’s not.
I was born in the Bronx and have lived in cities and the suburbs. for about 58 years. I was not a kid of nature. In fact, I didn’t go camping for the first time until I was in my early 30s.
So it didn’t come naturally to me at all when I moved to this part of the country with my new partner. I’ve adapted over the past four years. In fact, in the past 10 years, I’ve found myself growing in ways I never thought possible, going to places I never thought I’d go to, experiencing things that had never crossed my mind earlier in my life.
It doesn’t matter where you were born or who your parents were, how much money you had or what their plans were for you or what you feel your limitations have been. You can surprise yourself. You can do things you never thought possible—in your relationships, in your work, and in your life.
Think about it. How would you like to surprise yourself?
